Yoga refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines that originated in India. The word is associated with meditative practices in Hinduism. The word Yoga originates from the Sanskrit word “Yuj” which means – to unite.

According to Hindu philosophy, a human soul is Jeevathma and the Supreme soul is the Paramathma. Yoga is the method of Jeevathma attaining the highest level of consciousness of uniting with the Paramathma. Maharshi Pathanjali, an ancient Hindu saint wrote the Yoga Sutras which are the basis for the present day Yoga Practice.


Yoga practice is made up of various techniques like –

>> Dhyana (Meditation)
>> Pranayama (Control of Breath)
>> Surya Namaskaara (Sun Salutation)
>> Kriyas (Special acts)
